Program Overview
This 12-week internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in an area tailored to your interests and educational background. surveying, engineering design, and utility locating. Interns will participate in fieldwork using industry-leading tools and assist with project planning and execution. The program offers a well-rounded understanding in different areas of the engineering industry, preparing interns for successful careers.
1. Surveying Internship
Overview:
This category provides hands-on experience in surveying, data collection, and utility
locating. Interns will work with advanced surveying tools such as Total Stations, GPS,
and drones to map topographical features, locate underground utilities, and assist with
boundary surveys.
Ideal Candidates:
Students or recent graduates with an interest in surveying, fieldwork, and data collection.
Strong problem-solving skills and an eagerness to work on-site with industry-leading
tools are key.
2. 2D Drafting/GIS Internship
Overview:
In this category, interns will gain experience using GIS software, AutoCAD, and Civil
3D to support 2D drafting tasks. This will include creating and editing 2D maps, creating
designs based on utility and land survey data, and utilizing GIS data for various project
needs.
Ideal Candidates:
Students with a background in civil engineering, GIS, or related fields. Familiarity with
AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or GIS software is a plus but not required. A strong interest in
drafting and mapping technologies is essential.
3. Powerline Staking Internship:
Overview:
Interns in this category will gain experience with powerline staking and utility locating.
This role involves fieldwork related to powerline routing, staking locations for new
powerlines, and collecting data to ensure the accurate installation of electrical
infrastructure.
Ideal Candidates:
Ideal for students or recent graduates with an interest in utility infrastructure and
fieldwork. Strong analytical skills and a hands-on approach to work will be beneficial.
4. Drafting/Engineering Technology Internship
Overview:
This category is tailored for those interested in the technical aspects of engineering and
design. Interns will gain experience with both drafting (2D and 3D) and civil engineering
software tools and will contribute to engineering design and utility mapping projects.
Ideal Candidates:
Students with a focus in civil engineering, drafting technology, or a related field.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar software is required for this position. A
passion for design and technology in the engineering space is key.
